The weather this week has been dreadful. The temperature is in the upper 80s, but it has rained every day, so it's absolutely muggy. Gross. We had a brief monsoon yesterday around 4:45 pm, just in time to soak everyone on their way home from work. Bryan had decided that he wanted us to make some sort of tropical cocktail together when he got home from work, so I had to stop by the liquor store on the way home. I entered, dripping wet and shivering, to search for dark rum. The store clerk eyed me suspiciously and referred to me as "very young lady" twice, but didn't ask for my I.D. The wedding band always throws 'em off.

Anyhow, we ended up making a lovely little drink called a Pain Killer, the recipe being the only good thing that resulted from my summer in Wichita. It is: four parts pineapple juice, one part cream of coconut and two parts rum, topped with some freshly grated nutmeg. Don't skip the nutmeg. Have you every had rum by itself? Eew. I'm not sure what Captain Jack Sparrow was so excited about. But mix it around with some fruity goodness, and you've got yourself one happy little summer drink.

This afternoon, I'm seeing my doctor again to further investigate the evil headaches I've been plagued with. Hopefully we can get a treatment plan figured out.

Have a nice Wednesday! Watch out for monsoons.

That drink sounds delicious! But I'm biased because I actually like the taste of rum very much. It's one of the few liquors I'll shoot. The last time I went out to a club, I had grown so sick of the taste of coke that I just asked for a shot of rum and nursed it. The bartender couldn't believe it.

It does sound yummy! We'll have to try it. I made some peach daquiri's the other night. Brian said- add more lime so they ended up more like a peach margarita with rum not tequila. They were still tasty though :)
