I'm a bad wife. I cancelled a golfing trip with my husband. What can I say?? I need rest on the weekend. Need it. Bad.

So, I made my pasta arribbiata last night. I used the recipe from the Williams Sonoma Bride and Groom Cookbook. (This is my good-cook study book). I searched and searched for a similar recipe online, but couldn't quite find one. So, from memory, the sauce is made from canned tomatoes, olive oil, lots of minced garlic, black olives, parsley, capers, chili pepper flakes, and anchovies. You serve it over linguine with a nice grating of Parmesan cheese. If you're frightened of cooking with anchovies, don't be! In this sauce, they simmer down to an unidentifiable saltiness that makes the dish deliciously piquant.

I'm afraid I spoiled the dish a bit by adding fresh shrimp. See, I don't think I cook enough meat for my husband. Don't get me wrong, I like to eat meat, but I really don't care to cook it. So, when I found some reasonably priced fresh shrimp at the market, I bought them up and added them to my pasta. Bad move. Made the sauce too fishy for my taste. Fortunately, I don't think Bryan minded. He was blinded by the unusual amount of protein in our dinner and, turning dangerously carnivorous, ate seconds out of the pot.

We also watched a very interesting movie last night: The Number 23. It was suspenseful and had a good ending. I recommend it for your next night in with a husband and a pot of pasta.

Have a lovely, lovely weekend!
