Being my parents' youngest child has given me insight to a special time in their life. And during this era of our lives, we know each other as people- not just as a daughter or as parents.

Tonight, we spent a quintessential evening together: Mom and I cooked all sorts of foods (fried soft shell crabs, aged prime beef) while drinking wine spritzers as Daddy threw a ball for Louie and Tino. We listened to the soundtrack from Across the Universe until Daddy couldn't stand it anymore and pulled out all of his old Beatles albums, some of which have never even been opened.

I knew that living with my parents while Bryan started working in OKC would give me one more chance to slip into this very comfortable routine with them. It's hard to even explain what it's like, except to say that it's stepping back in time.

This week, I've alluded to some things that have been going on in my parents' life- some very horrible things. But while we feasted tonight and enjoyed each others' company, we celebrated the freedom that comes from making a decision you know is pleasing to God. It's unbelievably liberating.

And I probably won't ever forget this day.

I too got to move home for a bit during an unexpected time in my life. I call it "borrowed time". You're right, you won't forget this, and you will cherish it forever. Take it all in, it will pass quickly! Love and miss you tons.
