Birthday Festivities

Today is my big 2-6! A recap of the weekend, first:

On Friday evening, Bryan and I drove up to Tulsa for Carnival and to spend some time with the Penses. Thinking the spring blizzard was going to hit OKC and taper off by the time it reached Tulsa, I didn't even pack a coat. Unfortunately, that was not the case, so I wore an interesting combination of dress clothes, hoodies and tennis shoes to work on Friday and Saturday. Bryan told me I looked like a mall walker.

On Sunday, the snow started melting, and we all met for an early birthday brunch at Red Rock. My family knows my proclivity for gift cards and cash (hello, shopping!), so that was mostly what I received for my birthday.

Last night, Bryan suffered through Twilight with me... I finally decided to rent it because I just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I guffawed at a few of the more dramatic moments during the movie, but it wasn't horrible.

I woke up abnormally early this morning to do a little pre-shopping online, just to figure out where I wanted to spend my birthday money. I also went grocery shopping, which I enjoy just as much as clothes shopping. I bought myself a few random foods and dry goods like panko bread crumbs, frozen shrimp, Laughing Cow cheese and flavored coffee creamer. Non-necessities, you know.

Then, I went home to start preparing my birthday dinner. I wanted to cook. I'm making those yummy smoky beef tacos again. I prepared the meat in my crock pot this time, so the entire house is filled with the delicious smell of adobo chiles. It's making me hungry!

I did my birthday shopping at Ann Taylor Loft and Old Navy, and I bought a cute pair of denim capris , several pairs of dressy flip-flops and some solid color t-shirts. Yeah for good buys! And thanks for the shopping money, Pense family!

So, this evening I will enjoy my special birthday cake and Mexican food with my hubby and his family. It's been a great day so far!
