Holy cow. What a weekend. The Baucom boys left for their Chicago trip early Friday morning, and Beth mustered up the courage to take her first overnight trip with Baby Will. They did just fine, and we had a blast on Friday evening watching TV, going to the pool, and making Mexican food for dinner.

I made myself keep the same schedule as Beth all weekend because I wanted to try and give myself the whole new baby experience. I helped feed, burp, change, clothe, bathe, lotion and hold Will. I observed as Beth pumped every few hours, and understood clearly what she meant by this. I was also vomited on twice, but hey, I took it all in stride and we had a really wonderful time.

On Saturday, we got up and went to breakfast and then out shopping. We returned home with the intent of resting for a bit and then going out to dinner, but we decided it would be so much more relaxing to sit around the cool house in our nightgowns all evening instead! We ordered Chinese for dinner and sipped champagne as we prepared little Will for bed. We were sitting in the living room with him when simultaneously, my cell phone rang and I heard what I thought was someone coming in through the garage. I thought "Bryan's back early!"

But it was Bryan on the phone... and not in the garage.

The sound continued as the dogs started going absolutely nuts, barking and jumping and growling. Bryan instructed me to hang up with him and call 911, so Beth and I locked ourselves into the guest bathroom with an oblivious little Will and I called the police. The sound continued up until about a minute before the police arrived. The whole time, I was barring the locked door with my back, thinking that at any minute, whoever was trying to get in the house would be breaking the door down.

Then the police arrived in all their authoritative glory, storming through every room in the house with voices booming and assault rifles raised, and found... nothing. I didn't know if I should be more freaked out because they didn't find anyone than if they had. I was worried they'd think Beth and I were just paranoid girls home alone, hearing things, but the officers couldn't have been nicer in assuring us we'd done the right thing by calling.

After another check through the house and yard, the police officers left and Beth and I locked every door, turned on the alarm, checked every window in the house and turned on every single light. After realizing that we'd never be able to sleep in the house alone, my brother in law drove up from Tulsa to watch over us. Still, none of us really got any sleep because we were so jumpy. Even the dogs kept hopping up and pacing and barking at the door!

We survived the night, and Beth and Scott and Will returned to Tulsa on Sunday. I don't think poor Beth's ever going to have the courage to come visit by herself again! Bryan returned from his Chicago trip last night, and after lots of hugs and soothing, I was able to get some rest.

What a weekend!

SCARY STUFF! I'M GLAD EVERYTHING'S OKAY, THOUGH. MAYBE IT WAS JUST A WOODLAND CREATURE MAKING NOISE OUTSIDE???
