Three days out from our Florida vacation, Bryan and I decided to start making our preparations last night. We got a library card. Have you visited a public library in a while? Do. According to the helpful employee last night, "There's always something going on at the library!" Anyway, they have a new program to promote literacy in children: kids reading to dogs. One day a week, volunteers bring their well behaved dogs, who sit and patiently pretend to listen to stories read by small children. It's supposed to provide a non-threatening environment for children to practice their reading. Kind of fun, huh?

So, now that I have my beach reading material, I'm getting around to the less important things, like laundry and packing and ordering a new bathing suit and such.

I'm feeling rather anxious about leaving Tino at a kennel for a whole week. I worry that he'll be confused and think we left him for good. Does anyone else do this, or am I just very strange? Probably the latter. I did talk to my stuffed animals when I was little, taking care to spend an equal amount of time with all of them so they wouldn't think there was any favoritism.
