Some Christmas-y Thoughts

I started working for Tulsa Ballet exactly three years ago. It was a stressful time, as I was completing my first semester of grad school, moving back to Tulsa, leaving one job and starting another all in the same week. But I made it to my first work event on time and in high spirits.

The event was Hope for the Holidays; our annual charity performance of The Nutcracker. My boss said to wear something like a sweater and jeans since the event was casual. This is for you, Zum- I had my Mom hunt out this beautiful, old Nutcracker sweater she used to wear when I was younger for me. It had ballerinas with sparkly tutus and snowflakes on it, and I am telling you- I love that sweater! I did make her cut the shoulder pads out of it- I thought that would give it a nice little modernizing touch. I proudly wore my embellished Nutcracker sweater to the event, only to find that no one else was wearing a holiday sweater. Oopsy... everyone told me they liked it, though, and I should make a tradition of wearing it every year.

I think my Mom wore it the next year because I had to wear a Tulsa Ballet shirt, and I didn't go to Hope this year since I'm in OKC now. But I'm going to hang on to that sweater! It will always make me think of Christmas and my first Nutcracker season at Tulsa Ballet.

Cute story. It must be a Pense thing, though. Richard still has a yellow t-shirt from 8th grade. Why anyone would want to remember the 8th grade is beyond me! LOL :-)
