Rain!

Omigosh. It is raining like crazy this morning. When I was getting ready, I suddenly heard a strange, roaring sound coming from the window. I looked outside and saw water. Everywhere. Coming from the sky. I had decided to make a pit stop at Starbucks on my way to work for a fat free iced latte and a slice of blueberry bread, and as I drove through the water coming from the sky, I kept debating whether or not I should stop. I finally decided that I really needed my Starbucks, dangit, but I would go in so the poor kids working the drive-thru wouldn't get soaked on my behalf. Turns out that the other addicts weren't quite so considerate. In fact, I've never seen the line that long!

Things got more interesting when I arrived at work. There's a long drain pipe right by the employee entrance that sometimes causes unwelcome flooding around the door. This morning, however, water was moving through the pipe so fast that the water shot out right at the door lock. Imagine a water hose four inches wide spraying full blast at your hand as you try to unlock the door. Also, imagine you're holding an umbrella, coffee and your purse. Sound difficult? Indeed. I wish I had a video camera so I could record the responses of my coworkers as they arrive this morning.
